Huge congratulations go to Clive’s Mum and Dad this month as they are celebrating their 62nd Wedding Anniversary.

Michael and Teresa first met as children when their families lived in adjoining houses in Ramsgate Kent.   Little did they know back then, what a fabulous future they had ahead of them.

During their teenage years while Michael was working away with the Merchant Navy as a Third Officer, Teresa busied herself by working at Reddifusion where they distributed radio and TV signals through wired relay networks.

Clive 1Michael and Teresa continued to keep in touch during their teenage years and on the 12th December 1953 they tied the knot at St George’s Church in Ramsgate, Kent.   Teresa looked so beautiful wearing a dress with white lace bodice, layers of net with lace flowers appliqued with gold thread and a matching lace jacket. A coronet of orange blossom held her full length veil in place.   She carried a bouquet of golden tea roses, white heather and lilies of the-valley.  Michael looked equally as smart in his Third Officers Uniform.   Their three tier wedding cake was decorated in nautical tradition.

The wedding reception took place at The San Clu Hotel in Ramsgate and afterwards the honeymooners flew with British European Airways from London to the beautiful island of Jersey staying at the sea front Ommaroo Hotel.

Michael and Teresa were overjoyed when little Clive came along and he has continued to bring them a lot of joy and entertainment over the years.

Michael worked with the Merchant Navy for 16 years before taking up a post with Shell Max and British Petroleum.   This new career and lifestyle took the family off to Surrey.   Initially, they lived in Godalming before finding their dream home in Grayshott, Surrey where they still live today.

You can imagine their surprise when Michael and Teresa received a card from The Queen when they celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary in 2013.   After all the parties were over they sailed off into the sunset on a world cruise for three months visiting all the countries they had spent a lifetime dreaming about.

Clive 2Michael and Teresa have enjoyed many hobbies over their 62 happy years of marriage.   Michael enjoys making the odd batch of wine or tossing a coin down at the Bowls Club to see if he gets playing ‘end’ or ‘leg’. Teresa on the other hand has enjoyed sewing and has made a lot of her own dresses and has even made trousers for Clive when he was a boy.

Together Michael and Teresa have always enjoyed gardening, entertaining friends and for the past 20 years they have taken to the floor with ballroom dancing.   They have made some lovely friends though their love of dancing and one of these days you may even see them on ‘Strictly’.

Congratulations to you both, with love from Clive and Carmel.
